If we are going to walk in the supernatural power of God, then we need to get our mind in line with the mind of Christ.
Jesus & The Supernatural
(John 14:12) Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
(Mark 9:23) Jesus said, If you can believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
Jesus is expecting us to do the same works that he did and greater. Not just in a church service, but outside of the confines of a church service. We have to realize that Jesus' ministry was not just a teaching ministry, but it was a demonstration ministry. The miracles that Jesus performed were validation to the message that he taught. In other words, it was proof that he was who he said he was. There's a lot of preaching today, but there isn't much preaching of the authentic gospel of the kingdom with power, miracles, signs
(John 21:25) 25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written.
(Acts 1:1-3) 1 The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, 2 Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen: 3 To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.
When you look at the church as a whole today, it's operating at such a low level of power in comparison to the church we read about in the book of Acts. The early church walked in so much power that you couldn't even lie and go to church without dropping dead and Peter's shadow would heal the sick. There is no excuse to not walk in the fullness of what Jesus provided for us in his death, burial, resurrection, and ascension into heaven. In the book of Acts people were stuck dumb for mocking the power of God. Zacharias and Paul were struck blind, and these were manifestations of the Holy Spirit.
I heard of an account where 2 reporters came to a Holy Spirit revival meeting pretending to be blind, and the preacher (under the influence of the Spirit) said, "some of you who came to mock the Holy Ghost will leave with the very thing you came pretending to have" and they were carried out of the meeting screaming and blind. That will get your attention! I read a similar account of a meeting that Maria Woodworth-Etter was conducting. While she was preaching, a man mocked the Holy Spirit and his tongue swelled up like a banana and hung out of his mouth and he was unable to talk. After repenting, his tongue went back to normal and he received Jesus as his Lord and savior. There is a dimension of the power of God that most of the modern day church knows little to nothing about.
When God begins to manifest the supernatural, there will be a reverential fear of God to those who mock, because it's real. God will speak in an audible voice, dreams, and visions. If the book of Acts wasn't there, then we would move on, but we can't move beyond the Word of God. The move of God is upon us and I believe that whole cities will be shaken and rocked to the foundation with the power of the gospel of the Kingdom!
I was recently in a meeting where a Catholic man who had never been in a meeting where the Holy Spirit was moving, was overcome and fell under the power of the Holy Spirit. While he was on the floor, he heard the audible voice of God tell him, "it's not about a religion but it's about a relationship with me." His life was forever radically changed in a moment of time. I believe that these types of things will become more common as we move into greater realms of the anointing of the Holy Spirit's power.
I believe we are beginning to see the rising of a giant, where Christians will begin to take their places in Christ and see whole nations under the tsunami of God's spirit. I believe we are about to see a release of the greatest move of God the world has ever seen, a move of the spirit where signs and wonders and the glory of God will flow with such force it will break every
The Image Of God
The biggest thing that Adam lost in the garden was the image of God. The power and ability of God flowed through the image of God. The enemy is constantly trying to distort the image of how you see God, and how you think God sees you, because he knows that if he can, it will stop you from flowing in God's power. Condemnation distorts the way you see yourself, as well as it blocks you from receiving revelation from God.
If you were to take a glass of crystal clear water and shine a light through it, the light would clearly shine through the water, but if I take the water and stir in some mud, the light would not be able to clearly pass through. Condemnation is like the mud that blocks the light and power of God from flowing through your life for others to see.
There's a popular saying that a picture is worth a thousand words, I also believe that one miracle is worth a thousand sermons. This is why the enemy has tried to stop the church from operating in the supernatural through condemnation. The blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sins and has the power to cleanse our conscious of sin. We need to realize that there is no condemnation and we have the same spiritual capacity of Jesus. Under the Old Covenant, the people were waiting on God. In the New Covenant, God is waiting on us to step out in faith.
(1 Corinthians 2:4-5) 4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing
words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: 5 That
your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
(Romans 5:17) 17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)
God is waiting on you. He needs people who are yielded to him. Jesus said it’s not me that does the works, it’s my father in me, he does the works. In many churches they have removed the God factor. They have church with no manifestations of God. We have to come back to the Book of Acts pattern of being fully yielded to and dependent on the Holy Spirit to lead us and guide us.
Life In The Spirit
(Galatians 3:5-9) 5 He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? 6 Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. 7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. 8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. 9 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.
The person of the Holy Spirit was sent to help us advance the kingdom of God. As we go into the last days, we are going to have to engage in the supernatural. We need to get ourselves free from condemnation. Condemnation is the tool that Satan uses to keep the church in an anemic state
(Colossians 1:9-13) 9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; 12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: 13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son.
In verse 10 it says that we are to be “Increasing in the knowledge of God” – This is where the enemy wants to hinder the church. Mind renewal has to do with receiving and growing in the knowledge of God. Usually, what I've found to be my experience is that he will show you a glimpse of things to come, he doesn't show everything at once. He gives you a snapshot of the future and then you have to walk by faith to see it come to pass. This is what God did to Abraham when he showed him the stars and called him the father of many nations when there was no evidence of this in the natural.
Our colleges and universities have majored on the knowledge of man. The knowledge of man uses medicine to heal the sick and that's good, we are on the same team, but someone who is functioning in the knowledge of God can operate in a higher dimension and lay hands by the power of the Holy Spirit and command divine healing in Jesus name.
Once you are born again, the reason God leaves you here in the world is to bring his Kingdom to the world and to bring in the harvest of souls. In order to do that, we must have the knowledge of God. The knowledge of God supersedes, or you could even say is a higher standard than the knowledge of this world. When someone rises up in the knowledge of God, this worlds system will try to stop and come against that knowledge. We can see this in the life of Paul. He was given a messenger from Satan to buffet him because of the abundance of his revelation (knowledge of God) (see 2 Corinthians 12).
The Works of the Law (Religion) - A Form Of Godliness That Denies The Power Of God
(2Timothy 3:1-5) This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
Satan uses religion and tradition to bind and blind people.
When Hezekiah became king in his time of rule something interesting happened.
(2 Kings 18:1-5) Now it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign. 2 Twenty and five years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Abi, the daughter of Zachariah. 3 And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, according to all that David his father did. 4 He removed the high places, and brake the images, and cut down the groves, and brake in pieces the brasen serpent that Moses had made: for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it: and he called it Nehushtan. 5 He trusted in the Lord God of Israel; so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor any that were before him.
In verse 4 we see that he broke the brazen serpent into pieces. In Numbers chapter 21, God had Moses make a brazen serpent and wrap it around a pole. The children of Israel were dying and being bitten by serpents because of their disobedience. When they looked on the serpent, they were healed. When they traveled through the wilderness, they took the pole with them. The actually worshipped the pole and made an idol of it. This pole was used in a point in time that they needed deliverance, but it’s God that needs to be worshiped, not a pole. One form of religion is when people camp around a certain revelation and they make a denomination out of it. They fence themselves in and block the flow of God's supernatural power. You can see this when you look at many denominations today who are now an empty shell of what once was a powerful move of God. We are to be increasing in the knowledge of God. It’s from glory to glory.
Legalism and Religion Short Circuits The Power of God
Miracles won’t flow out of a condemned heart. Religion will keep pointing out your sin and keep you in a place of condemnation. When you get born again, the past sins are erased. Sanctification means that you might miss it in your progress, but the blood of Jesus is constantly cleansing you. The law wasn’t designed to bring perfection, it's purpose was to show the need for a savior and that we need God to cleanse, grace, and empower us.
When someone is operating under the law, they have a holier than thou attitude. Religion is like bad breath, the person who has it doesn't know they have it, but everyone around them does. They usually have a mean and critical spirit and it looks like they've been baptized in lemon juice. The Pharisees didn’t want to be touched by people because they were afraid someone unclean might touch them. When you know who you are, you know that nothing anyone says or does can hurt you. Jesus laid hands on the lepers and they were cleansed and healed. I don't recall reading about any Pharisees doing this, or healing anyone at all for that matter.
In Mark 5 Jesus raised Jiaruses daughter from the dead, but first, he cleared out all of the unbelief. I wonder how many churches Jesus would clear out today? When unbelief is removed, miracles pop like popcorn in the atmosphere of faith. The scriptures tell us that Jesus could do no mighty works in his own hometown because of the unbelief. Nothing will short-circuit the power of God like unbelief. Miracles are proof that Jesus is alive! Jesus said if you don’t believe me because of the words I speak believe me for the miracle that flow out of my life. If you're a child of God, then you are called to show evidence of his resurrection through the supernatural power of God flowing through your life.
I want to encourage you today to remember that God is for you and the blood of Jesus has made you clean. This revelation allows you to enter into the throne room of your heavenly father to receive everything you need to walk in His supernatural plan and power. That's good news!
